Getting started

Creating your first project

How to add a website to Semantyx, including what URL format to use and what happens during the initial crawl.

3 min read

A “project” in Semantyx is one website you're auditing. Each project gets its own crawl history, issue list, and connected GitHub repo (optional).

Add a project

  • Go to /projects.
  • Click + New project.
  • Type your domain. You can use bare format (example.com) — we'll auto-prepend https://.
  • Pick a country (used for region-targeted SEO checks like hreflang).
  • Click Create.

What URL to use

Always use the canonical version of your domain — the one Google treats as primary. Usually with https:// and either with or without www depending on which you've redirected to. If you're not sure, type your domain into Google and check what URL the homepage actually resolves to.

What happens after

We auto-trigger a small initial crawl (~10 pages) so you can see the dashboard populated immediately. Run a full crawl from the Technical SEO page when you're ready.
